Visualisation is quoted as being one of the most effective ways of aiding your efforts toward Success by many top athletes, billionaires and most importantly, the author of the greatest self development book ever, Napoleon Hill. Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jordan are both advocates of visualisation and both attribute their success to it, of course they both worked extremely hard too, however, that goes without saying.

Delving further into the teachings of Napoleon Hill, we can look at the process in which success is achieved, 6 simple steps is what it takes. The first step starts out as a burning desire, basically, how badly do you want it? It can’t just be airy fairy, it needs to be specific, whether a specific amount of money or a certain type of business and then the second step is to determine what you’ll do for it. He goes on to say that there is no such reality as something for nothing. You need to work for it.

Moving on throughout the different steps, the third step is to have a definite date when you want it, fourth, you create a plan and begin on that plan straight away regardless of whether you feel ready or not. The fifth and sixth steps are where things get interesting and the visualisation starts, you write out your statement, complete with everything mentioned in steps 1-4. Then the sixth step is to read it out, twice daily, morning and night and see and feel yourself in the possession of the money.

Is that realistic? What fun is it being realistic? Who wants to be realistic anyway? It is the unrealistic ‘impossible’ thoughts that bring greatness into our lives. Dream big, set yourself a big goal, the biggest you can think of and go for it. It may be unrealistic, in fact we believe it better be big enough to be ‘unrealistic’ but be sure to stick to your plan, no matter what happens. Unrealistic is relative, if you truly believe you can achieve something, nothing anyone can ever say can take that belief from you.

Let’s look at 3 simple steps you can use to harness the power of your imagination

What is it that you want?

What is it that will give you real fulfilment, really think about this bit as it is really important, it may be £50 Million or it could be the opportunity to travel the world working taking pictures for people. One thing to note, purely wanting x amount of money won’t make you happy, what we are really after here is true fulfillment and that requires more than money and sometimes it requires no money at all so you really need to think long and hard about what it is you really want. If you weren’t happy before you made lots of money you won’t be after either, regardless of how much your circumstances have changed. Happiness comes from within and a truly fulfilling life.

Think big

So far, we have found what will really make you happy, now what would make you feel like you’re on cloud 9 all day everyday? That is what we really want isn’t it? Think big, if you wanted to be able to travel the world with your partner, imagine being able to take your whole family, even your extended family with you, or maybe move them to somewhere they’ve always dreamed of. Maybe you want a company worth a million dollars but imagine launching a few companies and getting your friends and family involved impacting hundreds of lives. I could go on all day, this is the kind of goal that will get you jumping out of bed at 5AM and working late nights into the early hours of the morning.

Write your goal down, a full statement and imagine you’re there

Whatever it is you want, how you will do it, when you want it by, have all of this in your statement and read it daily, have it somewhere you can see it and whenever you read it, close your eyes and dream of it like you already have it. The mind is the most powerful computer on the planet, we don’t use most of it but this is where your imagination can come out to play. What will make you feel all warm and bubbly on the inside? I feel we all deserve success and the way we use our mind will determine whether we get what we deserve or not. I’ll leave you with a great quote about the power of our minds, read it and really think about how powerful you are.

“The mind is a powerful force. It can enslave us or empower us. It can plunge us into the depths of misery or take us to the heights of ecstasy. Learn to use the power wisely”

David Cuschieri

Your mindset holds the key to your success, master your mindset and success will feel natural. You’ll be on autopilot en route to success. GSY
